PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As participants in the Ohio State University Interior Design Studio, our team embarked on a visionary project in collaboration with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Outpatient Care to reimagine the future of outpatient healthcare for senior living communities. Our task was to integrate a "Med-tail" healthcare space within a senior living community, focusing on providing essential outpatient services for the aging population and the broader community. Drawing insights from current healthcare trends, cultural shifts, and futuring exercises, our goal was to design a cutting-edge healthcare environment that prioritizes the human experience, fosters empathy, and anticipates the evolving needs of an aging population. We envisioned a space that seamlessly blends medical care with age-friendly design principles, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for patients and caregivers alike. Our project aimed to revolutionize the delivery of outpatient care for senior living communities, setting new standards for age-friendly healthcare design. By prioritizing empathy, inclusivity, and innovation, we created a transformative healthcare environment that enhances the quality of life for older adults and promotes community well-being.

CONCEPT STATEMENT

Our concept emphasizes the significant influence that nature has on a person's mental and physical well-being, in addition to the possible therapeutic advantages of being in natural settings. Given this connection, our approach to healthcare seeks to integrate nature's therapeutic qualities into all aspects of the patient-physician relationship. By using natural materials carefully, we want to improve the effectiveness and variety of our service.

Our medical facility offers comfortable, quick-service services designed for people seeking health and wellness services. In addition to offering wrinkle/anti-aging services, prescription pick-up, dancing and yoga classes, rehabilitation sessions, and a general check-up physician area, we make sure that patients can easily navigate the facilities and are in a rejuvenating, motivating, and stress-free environment.

TREATMENT

Wrinkles/Anti-aging Service: Middle-aged individuals and seniors who are concerned about signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin.

Arthritis Shots and Prescriptions: Older adults who are suffering from chronic joint pain, stiffness, and inflammation associated with arthritis. Individuals with autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. People who have experienced joint injuries or trauma and are seeking pain relief and improved mobility.

Dance Classes: People of all ages and backgrounds who enjoy dancing as a form of exercise, stress relief, and social activity. Individuals looking for a fun and engaging way to improve cardiovascular health, coordination, and flexibility.

Rehabilitation Sessions: Patients recovering from surgeries such as joint replacements, spinal procedures, or sports injuries. Individuals who have suffered strokes, traumatic brain injuries, or neurological disorders and are undergoing rehabilitation to regain function and independence. Athletes rehabilitating from sports-related injuries and looking to return to peak performance.

Physician: People who are eighteen years of age or over seek professional medical care, diagnosis, treatment, and support that is customized to meet their specific needs in order to maximize their lifespan, well-being, and overall health.
